Nope you can be in the state where everyone has like a thousand copies each because there's only 10,000 of your chosen console sold but you manage to sell 10 million somehow
I have a complete monopoly on the gaming industry every top ten game is one of my games with the lowest selling being 133M units and my highest selling being 444M Units. If a rival company wanted to get close to my level they would have to SELL THEIR SOUL.
Soon you'll ether have to brainwash people so that they buy more than one or find aliens should be pretty easy though considering you should have about 50 billion (20 x 2 Billon approximate sales)
Well when you think about how fast medicine is advancing and the fact that you should only be about a 130 it's actually not that far out there are plenty of people who have reached a hundred and it's 2020 That's 50 extra years of medical research
Hello, at the moment I'm not planning to go back to Tech Giants. What I have in mind though is to make the project open source, so that people can reuse the assets and make a new game out of it.
I had the same thought before, back when Hardware Tycoon's developer, Haxor, stopped working on the project. I was upset at first, but now I understand. Life happens. When you get to my age, you have work and other responsibilities. Most people who make these kinds of games start when they're teenagers.
I still work on the project on weekends, but that's just not enough time to finish something of this scale. I wouldn't call it quitting, though; it's more of a hiatus. If I manage to finish version 0.3 and it does well on Steam, I plan to pitch it to some publishers and hopefully hire people to help me complete it.
You're right, though. At some point, if my attempts to revive the project don't work out, I'll move on. But it hasn't come to that yet.
Right now, I'm trying to clean up the current version, v0.2.0, and open-source it. Unfortunately, it's taking some time.
Couldn't you add these as mods you've already programmed that feature in so you would just have to add a bit of code and you could release official updates (That can be turned off in the settings) from mods that are in your style
Hi, sorry for the late response. I have been busy with work recently and haven't had any time of maintain this project. Yes, the archives don't work, I think the domain expired. I try to fix it and get the website working again. It makes me really happy that you still play this game even though it's on hold now. Thank you for being such a great fan.
I'm sorry the development is on hold right now, I don't have the time to work on this project anymore. And I was wrong GTA6 is coming out before Tech Giants v0.3 🥲
Well I took over the game market again and I feel like if I deleted my games the game industry would completely crumble due to 98 percent of it being gone
Yes now we just need to figure out brainwashing and That might cost like a trillion which I don't think anyone's ever achieved yikes uhhhh anyone just want to give me a trillion dollars?
Love this game, so far the only problem with it is how easy you lose. Because I had sunk 1.2 million dollars into advertising for a game, and then the new year happened a few days later, and I was declared bankrupt. If there were a brief negative time, I think it would be better. Otherwise, it was amazing.
Don't worry once you get about 10 million you can put a lot into advertising. (Note: if you're okay with breaking the game then put 1 of the ((international)) advertisement you want and then buy local ads they'll have the same effect)
After reading this comment, I was like whattt?! I went and played older versions of the game in case I removed it by mistake, but no it does not exist. I don't know how I missed it 🤦
Oh okay lol, and after finishing the current game content, I think that it’s quite hard to tell what jobs impact the most the game development speed, what skills speed it up, and also I think you should limit technologies per years because having fluid simulation for games in 1980 is a little weird, especially when you see that no computer fits the minimum requirements to use these techs.
I can’t wait for further updates with new consoles, I have made “Doom” on Yumaichi Entertainment System and it got 30M sales day 1 lol, same for when I released “Doom II”, but I must tell that I don’t feel really the imppact of technologies on game’s rating and investor’s opinions.
Another suggestion I can think of is that some settings auto-enable some others, or gray-out some settings, for example does Color Dithering either replaces or auto-enable the basic Color thing. Having some settings should also gray-out some other, perspectives for example…
Maybe you added some code for it but removed it due to it being next to a buggy feature (or it itself being buggy) That would explain why you have a memory of it.
Yeah. I will put out a devlog when alpha builds are ready. for anyone who is not on discord, I usually post alpha and beta builds on a hidden itch.io page.
I'm surprised because for a while the expected release date is sometime in August but there's not an alpha version yet that's good but it's June and there's only two months until Maybe release (but since the last update on this was a month ago maybe September or October)
The PCs are usually more powerful and you can self-publish on them but the console is are more popular and you can get more sales easily 😁 (but since the three PCs are at the beginning of the game they're only more powerful than the consoles of that time)
If you mean at once if you want to make a lot of games you should do text-based but the best way to do it is one by one at a time because each game will slow down the other games being made so if you try and make 10 games at a time it will be X amount slower (I use X because I don't know the actual amount)
can you make it where you can update your games which increase some sort of reputation and prolongs sales. Please let at least name updates and add descriptions and basic content options and bug fixing option for roleplay and stuff that is fun ykykykykykykykykyk
And don't forget ratings (you could just add in a simple system that's just random ((but then you run into the problem of making the world's most technologically advanced the game that's 50 years ahead of the time and still getting one star because it's "old school" so yeah a more involved approach would be better)))
While we wait a workaround might be to release games such as whatever you want to call your game prototype then game name alpha (or if you wanted to make a bit more sense that you're selling the game open alpha) beta (or open beta) if you want to do the development versions or just start with game name official release or v 1.0 and then just go out through the versions
Just so you know, at least on the browser version it only lets you self publish on your first game, I can't tell if its purposeful or not. Also I can't wait for the update, can you tell some of what it will bring? PLSS
That was on purpose, I know it's ... unrealistic, it was old gameplay from v0.1 that carried through to v0.2. About the next update, well I have been picking the game apart and replacing different pieces of it. Only after playtesting it I can confidently say what will make it into the next version. Right now, the game is a glorified tech demo. One thing I can share is that the game will lean more towards simulations.
It would be more realistic if The only possible option was self-publishing because not a lot of companies (big or small) would went to partner with you because it could be a failure
And I stuff like once you have a small reputation small companies would like to partner with you and then once all your games have like 10 million sold global sellers

does it matter what system i use to sell games cause the nintendo has more units sold but i sell all my games using sega
Nope you can be in the state where everyone has like a thousand copies each because there's only 10,000 of your chosen console sold but you manage to sell 10 million somehow
where can i download mods?
The game only supported language mods, you can enable them in the mods section on the main menu
hello when are we getting an update?
Hello, there won't any official updates, but the project is going to be open source soon.
its sad that there are not gonna be any more official updates anymore :(

LOL
Peak!
its 2070 my character shouldve been long dead by now
OMG, how long have you been playing?! I guess someone found a cure for death.
Ive been playing on that save since august. Im guessing my character is using stem cells.
Well when you think about how fast medicine is advancing and the fact that you should only be about a 130 it's actually not that far out there are plenty of people who have reached a hundred and it's 2020 That's 50 extra years of medical research
If i offered to help with the games development for free would you let me?

whats with people that are making this kinds of games on itch quitting

Unfortunately, mods were a half baked feature, and it will take some tinkering to make things work.
yea i get that you have respoblites it just sucks hopefully it does well on steam it is a pretty good game
Yeah, I hope so. Thanks.
Still have my best save lol
i just imagine a gen z kid playing on call of duty on an ataru in 2019
LOL
lol
Hello. Can you create a copy on github? In this way, we Chinese people can play.We will solve the problem of sinicization
Sure, I'll think about it. Making the project open source will help keep it alive, as I don't have much time to develop it anymore.
Hello, Tech Giants v0.2 is open source under the name OpenTG, please checkout the devlog
is there ever gonna be a time where we can use all our research on one game?
Hello, unfortunately the project is on hold now and it won't be receiving any updates for the foreseeable future.
The archives won't work I try and load and it instantly gives me this code DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Hi, sorry for the late response. I have been busy with work recently and haven't had any time of maintain this project. Yes, the archives don't work, I think the domain expired. Hello, the archives are back again
Are there going to be some new computers/consoles? Cause i lowkey cant make a game with all research-based additions and its lowkey unsatisfaing t-t
Unfortunately, no. The upcoming update will only cover computers/consoles from the 1970s to 1980s.
dang
im insane at this game still LOLZ
I'm sorry the development is on hold right now, I don't have the time to work on this project anymore. And I was wrong GTA6 is coming out before Tech Giants v0.3 🥲
oh ok its fine
ok still sad to see you go at least its not like what happens to hardware tycoon
Yeah. I really miss hardware tycoon tbh. I still go back and play it sometimes though for nostalgia purposes.
Well I took over the game market again and I feel like if I deleted my games the game industry would completely crumble due to 98 percent of it being gone
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

Can’t we discontinue the development of a game or something like that ?
After reading this comment, I was like whattt?! I went and played older versions of the game in case I removed it by mistake, but no it does not exist. I don't know how I missed it 🤦

Yep, that would explain it.
can you post the alpha builds out on itch.io 🙏 (alpha builds of next update)
Yeah. I will put out a devlog when alpha builds are ready. for anyone who is not on discord, I usually post alpha and beta builds on a hidden itch.io page.
ooooooh where
its here https://rebellium.itch.io/tech-giants-playtest the password is "tech-giants-playtest"
I'm about to play this to death (when it's ready of course)

thanks
its empty at the moment
how many consoles are there
I think there are 9 consoles and 3 PCs
The PCs are usually more powerful and you can self-publish on them but the console is are more popular and you can get more sales easily 😁 (but since the three PCs are at the beginning of the game they're only more powerful than the consoles of that time)
made 10 games and all of them are best sellers
Your company isn't a game company it's the game market
is there a maximun amount of games you can make cause it always caps out around 6 during the late mid 80s
I'm not sure, I don't remember putting in a limit.
If you mean at once if you want to make a lot of games you should do text-based but the best way to do it is one by one at a time because each game will slow down the other games being made so if you try and make 10 games at a time it will be X amount slower (I use X because I don't know the actual amount)

Wait a sec, you mean you can only self-publish on the first game?! Like just the first game. Uhh, that's a bug.
I mean like the first game you make in the game is the only one you can self-publish.
